I started running in 2016 as a bucket list thing. The plan was to run a marathon before 40, and one after 40. Then I learned that a marathon was 26.2 miles, 🙄 so I decided to just do a half marathon instead. From there I was hooked and did 26.2 in 2017 at the Atlanta Publix Marathon!

2022 will be my 4th Boston Marathon, my 3rd in person one. 2018 was my first Boston, yes the year of the unicorn storm….the worst weather ever!

What excites me most about running is the feeling of freedom it gives. Just being able to move my body from one place to another is a blessing. One of my favorite routes is from my house, to my mothers house….which is a little over 4 miles. The people that I have met alone the way, is a very close 2nd on what excites me also!

My goal for the 2022 Boston is to place in the top 10 for my age group! My baby girl came up with this goal while bragging to her older sisters that I could place in the top 10 overall, then when they explained how many people would be running, she said so…daddy can still place top 10 in his age group! Lol 😂

Keep dreaming, keep grinding, and keep running. Especially as African Americans you’re making a difference in your family, your community, in this world. People see us! I’m one of the people watching so keep on inspiring! You make a difference!!!
