Our Mission

The Black Unicorn Marathoners' mission is to Celebrate and Connect BIPOC runners associated with the Boston Marathon, spanning from qualifiers to charity supporters, invitational entrants, and alumni. Our annual event at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury goes beyond welcoming athletes to Boston; it weaves them into the fabric of our community, recognizing their contributions and affirming their essential role in the narrative of our city’s marathon. We aspire to make this event a symbol of unity and diversity, proving indispensable to the marathon tradition.

Beyond celebration, we are dedicated to educating and elevating the prominence of long-distance running within our community and beyond. We aim to forge connections between the marathon’s participants and the next generation of runners, fostering a dynamic and inclusive running community that reflects the spirit and diversity of Boston. Through these efforts, we envision transforming the Boston Marathon into an even more inclusive, inspiring, and uniting experience for all.
