To honor the 10th anniversary of this historic moment, the Black Unicorn Marathoners proudly introduced the 2024 Team Meb 10—a team of marathoners whose stories and achievements reflect the values that Meb represents: excellence, dedication, and community.
Meet the 2024 Team Meb 10
Marcus Brown
Marcus’s journey from a 4:55 marathon debut to running sub-3-hour marathons is a testament to his discipline and commitment. He has completed all six World Marathon Majors and achieved two sub-3 marathons in a single week, including Boston and London. His story continues to inspire runners across the globe.
Luther Isaac
A former Marine and longtime member of Black Men Run, Luther began his running journey over 50 years ago. From running Boston on a charity bib in 2008 to qualifying and completing four Boston Marathons, Luther brings strength, wisdom, and deep community impact to the team.
Philip King
A distinguished Masters runner from Arkansas, Philip has raced at the Abbott Wanda World Age Group Championships and completed all six World Marathon Majors. With victories in distances ranging from 5Ks to half marathons, he remains focused on adding a marathon win to his impressive resume.
Ruben P. Sança
Originally from Cape Verde, Ruben’s running career took shape in Boston and led him to represent Cape Verde at the 2012 Olympics. He has consistently competed internationally and placed in the Top 25 at the Boston Marathon in both 2014 and 2015, blending elite performance with a dedication to community uplift.
